A Tunisian girl is set to marry two men at the same time later this year, in an incident that has sparked widespread controversy on social media in a country that bans men from polygamy.
And a girl named “Sundus” appeared in a video clip on the “Tik Tok” application, to announce the date of her wedding with two men on December 31st, and to invite her friends to participate in the wedding, in a situation without previous.
She said that Tunisian law, which forbids men from polygamy, allows women to marry more than one man, and expressed her happiness at being the first Tunisian woman to marry two men.
In another video clip, Sondos pledged justice between her husbands, noting that she has received requests from other men who have expressed a desire to marry her.
The Tunisian girl’s exit and the announcement of her marriage to two men caused a stir on social media, as Abu Naim considered in a post that “the girl exploited a legal loophole in Tunisian law”, invoking the need to negotiate with her as soon as possible, asking: “How can a country prevent polygamy given that for over 60 years women have had more husbands?
However, activist Salma Kamal refuses to consider this as a legal loophole, stating in a post that “Tunisian law has not prohibited polygamy for women in a detailed article, because this issue is evident and agreed upon in society.” .
For her part, the activist Moez Bourawi considered that the marriage of a woman with two men is “clear adultery, legalization of prostitution and confusion of lineage”, calling for an intervention to prevent this marriage, while the activist Aisha Ammari put questioned the seriousness of the Sondos girl, and saw that she was seeking fame and attracting followers of her social media accounts.
