A Galaxy Far, Far Away Beckons: Jude Law Leads "Skeleton Crew" on Disney+
Prepare to blast off to a realm of adventure! "Star Wars: Skeleton Crew," a thrilling new series starring Jude Law, is set to land on Disney+ this Monday, December 2nd, at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT. Get ready for a two-episode premiere that will transport you to a galaxy filled with wonder and danger.
This exciting installment in the Star Wars universe follows the journey of four young explorers. Plunged into a mysterious predicament on their seemingly safe home planet, they find themselves caught in the vast, unknown reaches of the galaxy. Facing unexpected allies and intimidating adversaries, their quest to find their way back home will be an experience far grander than they ever imagined.
Law, known for his captivating performances in films like "Fantastic Beasts" and "Sherlock Holmes," takes on the role of Jod Na Nawood, a mysterious Force-user who may wield the powers of a Jedi. Joining him on this epic adventure is a talented ensemble cast including Nick Frost, Keri Condon, Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, Kyriana Kratter, Robert Timothy Smith and Tunde Adebimpe.
"Skeleton Crew" is the brainchild of creators Christopher Ford and Jon Watts, director of the acclaimed "Spider-Man" trilogy. This highly anticipated series promises to captivate audiences with its blend of action, suspense, and heartwarming moments.
For Law, the role holds a special significance. During a recent interview, he shared his childhood fascination with Star Wars, recalling, “ "It dominated and transported my childhood from this very suburban upbringing in Southeast London to a galaxy far, far away,” Law added. “I think I spent the better part of those years running around saying, ‘Pew, pew, pew’ [mimicking a blaster] to all of my friends.”
He even spoke about the distinct challenges and thrills of working with the practical elements of filmmaking.
“Stepping into it was really fun. I’ll tell you the most interesting surprise—which I completely underestimated as an actor—was the skill of learning to perform with puppets, puppeteers and animatronics,” Law recalled.
"A lot of them are really there so it’s not CGI. So, learning to do a scene with someone with their head [motioning] here—the performances of these puppeteers is just masterful.”
After the premiere, "Skeleton Crew" will continue its voyage with new episodes airing every Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT, concluding with a total of eight episodes.
