Former Polish sprinter Marcin Urbas thinks that Namibian runner Christine Mbomová has an unfair advantage over her sprint rivals due to the increased testosterone level.
Only the 18-year-old sportswoman competed in the 200 m run at the Tokyo Olympics. Tuesday’s final set in the world junior record of 21.81 ended in a silver position behind Jamaican Elaine Thompson-Herah.
“I would like to ask Mbomová to thoroughly test to see if she is really a woman. Her testosterone advantage over other participants is also visible to the naked eye, in body structure, movement, technique, speed and endurance.” said the 44-year-old Krakowian, according to the website of the daily Marc.
According to Urbas, a Namibian woman has the parameters of an 18-year-old boy rather than a girl. “At her age, I had the best time of 22.01 s. She ran 21.97 s in Tokyo,” reminded Mbom of the semi-final time at the two hundred, which she later improved in the final by another 18 hundredths of a second.
The European Indoor Champion at 200 m from 2002 believes that with the testosterone advantage Mbomová will soon overcome the limit of 21 seconds at 200 m and run 400 m below 47 seconds. “We will all continue to think that it is fair and equal, but it is a clear and brazen injustice against women who are real women.” stated the two-time participant in the Olympic Games and the 200 m champion at the Beijing Universiade two decades ago.
