Chlorophyll, water with chia seeds and an endless amount of green juices: Tiktok is full of remedies that should boost our health. The latest hype: sea moss. If we are to believe Kim Kardashian and Cardi B, the stuff would work wonders for your heart, gut, thyroid and general health. But is that actually true?
Is sea moss healthy?
Although sea moss does indeed contain many nutrients and vitamins, there is no scientific evidence that it actually benefits our health. If you still want to try it, it is important that you respect the recommended amount. After all, sea moss contains a lot of iron, iodine and magnesium; an excess of those substances can cause serious medical problems. For sea moss gel, the limit of one tablespoon per day usually applies, for supplements and powders it is best to read the information leaflet. Attention: if you have thyroid problems, be sure to contact your doctor first to avoid additional complications.
