Is October 13, 2024 commercial Sunday, trade without restrictions, shopping in Lidl and Biedronka, in malls, all stores open or only Żabka

The second Sunday in October was a great time to shop for many people. But, is today 13 October 2024 a commercial Sunday or is it a Sunday with no trading? Is it worth going to a gallery or shopping center to combine other attractions than shopping with a visit to stores? But where can we buy one hundred percent without looking for answers to these questions, because the stores are open?

These questions were revived in the spring when Parliament began work on changing the ban on Sunday trading and the hope that stores would once again be open every Sunday was revived. , not just seven a year – as in past years. we’ve practically gotten used to it.
However, not everyone is so impatient waiting for a change to the Sunday Trading Prohibition Act. As for whether there should be a trading ban on chain and large format stores on Sunday, Poles’ opinions are evenly divided. In addition, there is the problem of trading working days when a four-day working week is to be introduced in the Labor Code.
However, this is a dilemma – a trap. Other businesses that are not limited by ideological barriers face the same problem – they also have to deal with the problem of a four-day work week. In fact, changing the rules on Sunday trading means restoring normality. Allow commercial companies, as in any other industry, to organize their own work according to market principles and general labor law provisions.

So what’s the deal with buying today, Sunday, October 13, 2024?

Sunday 13/10/2024: which stores are open, is today shopping sunday?

Unfortunately, despite promises, the Sejm did not finish work on the amendment to the act on the ban on Sunday trading before the holiday, and has not dealt with it now, after returning to work There are still changes to the act due to the committee’s work. This means that the regulations on banning trading on Sundays are still in force, which stipulate that shops will only be fully open seven Sundays a year.

If the provisions of the amended Act on Sunday trading ban were already in force, today it would still be Sunday with trading ban and in Biedronka, Lidl, Stokrotka, Kaufland and other discount stores, and in all store – from boutiques to Carrefours – in malls and shopping centers, we would still buy that they did not. The new rules are limited Sundays with a trading ban until the first two Sundays of the month. Today is the second Sunday in October, so after the rules change, it will be a no-trade Sunday, ie a non-trade Sunday.
If the Sejm, which returned to work after the holidays, does not change the law quickly, and that is unlikely, we will now have to wait a long time for Sunday shopping – until December and as close to the Christmas. The last trading Sunday – the fifth of the year – was seven weeks ago, on 25 August 2024.

In addition, there is traditionally more shopping on Sundays during the holiday months: March or April (Easter) and December (Christmas).

Employees of Lidl, Biedronka, Stokrotka, Auchan, Kaufland, Aldi, Dino – or other chains, who now use almost every Sunday off due to provisions of the ban on Sunday trading as they are currently, protect – for working on Sundays they get double pay and another day off, and, above all, a guarantee of at least two Sundays a month without work.
