Is Nintendo’s “Switch 2” the Middle Ground between Switch Pro and Next Gen Console?

Middle ground between Switch Pro and Switch 2?

Nintendo’s next console, often referred to as the “Switch 2”, is adopting increasingly tighter briefs. An image detailing the console from Chinese accessory maker Mobapad suggests a console best described as a careful evolution of the Switch, with games and some accessories apparently working on both .

The details quickly disappeared from Mobapad’s Facebook page, however Wccftech has republished them. It looks like this:

  • Switch games will work on Switch 2. This applies to both digitally and physically purchased games. However, the Switch 2 charges will not work on the Switch.

  • The Switch 2 gets a 1080p resolution screen that is slightly larger than the one on the Switch.

  • Both Pro and Joy-con controllers from today’s Switch work wirelessly on the Switch 2. However, older Joy-Cons cannot be connected to the Switch 2, which must be using magnetic devices of some kind.

  • USB-C is again used as the connection, and the dock has “minor design improvements”.

  • The doll must have received a metal support to change the angle.

Several of the data are compatible with other accessory manufacturers tell the Spanish Vandal recently, including that the Switch 2 will take Switch games, which the controllers connect with magnets, and the approximate size of the console. It does not necessarily mean that the information is true, but the probability increases if several sources say similar things.

There are rumors that Nintendo could be planning to announce the Switch 2 (or whatever their next console will be called) this summer, and that it could be released. late this year, at the beginning of 2025 or spring 2025 – at the earliest.
