Is Mysterious Hepatitis Infectious In Children? This is Expert Word

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Epidemiologists in various parts of the world are still investigating the causes of the mysterious hepatitis which is becoming a new health threat in many countries. This threat has also caused various questions among the public, one of which is whether mysterious hepatitis is the same as jaundice?

Epidemiologist from Griffith University, Dicky Budiman, explains that the mysterious hepatitis that occurs today is not the same as jaundice. Because jaundice is caused by the hepatitis A virusfrom a number of mysterious hepatitis cases reported, Hepatitis AE virus was detected negative.

“It was detected negative for the Hepatitis AE virus, some were also negative for Sars COV 2, and some were negative for the adenovirus. So this is clear, this is not the same as jaundice,” explained Dicky to CNBC Indonesia, Thursday (5/05/2020). 5/2022).

“To find out the source of the disease and how it is transmitted, this requires time and investigation. Of course, an epidemiologist cannot work alone, he will need an expert on hepatitis or pediatric disease, a microbiologist, laboratory assistant, and so on. This will take time,” added Dicky.

The next question is, is the hepatitis disease that is becoming a symptom contagious between children?

“This has not been confirmed yet. It means that the principle of mitigating, prevention is much better. Because we want it to be contagious or not, we don’t know yet. Yes, do the prevention principle well,” explained Dicky.

The prevention in question is by keeping a distance, washing hands, using masks, staying away from crowds, and reducing mobility (5M) and continuing to do testing, tracing, and treatment (3T).

As well as the prevention of infectious diseases in general, personal hygieneenvironmental sanitation with nutrition and food, that’s what we must continue to do,” explained Dicky.

“The most important message is that with this hepatitis case it doesn’t mean the pandemic is over, the sars cov2 is over and it doesn’t mean you can take off your mask, no. Because there are still many possibilities, the principle of prevention is still main and important,” Dicky continued.
