The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) and the Transportation Workers Union joined forces to demand a greater police presence in the subway.
The initiative stems from the incident in which a subject attacked a driver out of turn with a box cutter.
It happened on a J line train in Brooklyn last Thursday. The 52-year-old worker is recovering at the Jamaica Hospital.

The MTA and the union are also demanding mental health assistance in the subway to prevent similar incidents in the future.
The transportation entity conducted a survey last month and found that people fear for their safety on the subway.
For this reason, the president of NYC Transit, Sarah Feinberg, shared a statement in which she says, in part, that the demand for greater security comes at a time when more people are using transport again.
However, the municipal government assures that the MTA is exaggerating about the real danger on the trains and cites data from the NYPD where it is exposed that crime in the system has decreased compared to last year.
