Redmonds can knead for product display. We have seen such a model in PC games before.
Microsoft is essentially working now to promote brands with free-to-play games on the Xbox. About this a Business Insider wrote, and the technology is said to be being developed by the Redmond company to be able to display advertisements. This program could push the currently limited inventory so brands can allow multiple developers to sell ad placements with expanded gaming offerings.
According to Business Insider, Microsoft could implement the idea as early as the third quarter of this year, between July and September. It is planned that advertisements may appear on billboards next to the tracks in a racing game or an open-world adventure game, for example. Of course, the ads can be displayed differently, but they can go to the other end of the horse by staring directly into our image in a completely intrusive way during the gameplay (there has been an example of this in paid games as well), but it is not known if Microsft will go so far.
An Xbox spokesman told the publication that they are always looking for new ways to improve the experience for gamers and developers, but have no further announcements. This is also interesting because, according to both sources of Business Insider, Microsoft does not want a percentage of its advertising revenue, but rather seeks to build an Xbox ad network. Revenue is shared between the developer and the company responsible for placing the ad. Redmonders are now worried about how distracting the ads can be for players, so they are working cautiously to create a private market so that only selected brands can advertise in a way that doesn’t disturb the gaming experience.
Xbox is already collecting data about consumers through Bingen and other apps, and sources say Microsoft has no plans to take advantage of them to target gamers. So it seems more like they want to favor developers, but it all depends on the reception. But let’s get back to the PC gaming theme mentioned at the beginning: In 2007, Ubisoft in the North American region, for example, made Far Cry or Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time free to download by placing ads in it.
So the idea is not new, but it is different from Ubisoft concept.
