As reported by “Sport Bild”, SC Freiburg is about to sign Rade Krunić, who is currently under contract with AC Milan until 2024.
For eight million euros, the central midfielder is to join the team around head coach Christian Streich – just one year after the Milanese transferred a similar sum to FC Empoli to secure his services.
However, the 27-year-old was unable to prevail among the Italians, having played just over 700 minutes in 18 games. If the change takes place, Krunić would become the Freiburg record transfer.
Krunić and Höfler in the center of Freiburg?
The Bosnian is more defensive than Guus Til (attacking midfield), whom the sports club recently signed.
A transfer from Krunić should therefore be seen as a reaction to the departures of Robin Koch (to Leeds United) and Mike Frantz (to Hannover 96). As a more offensive part to Nicolas Höfler, he could occupy the midfield center.
