“This neurotransmitter can stimulate muscle contractions to produce signals in the brain,” he said.
Not only that, nicotine can also activate the dopamine signal, which creates a pleasant sensation.
“Over time, the brain gets used to this activity and reduces the number of acetylcholine receptors,” he says.
Of course, this will trigger tolerance to nicotine, which makes a person feel the need for more nicotine.
Nicotine also stimulates the brain’s pleasure centers, mimicking dopamine, so the brain begins to associate nicotine use with feeling good.
