There is no research and evidence that refilled gallons trigger autism in children
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA— The polemic regarding the consumption of bottled water gallon Polycarbonate triggers autism is still a hot topic.
Autism education expert, Dr Imaculata Umiyati MSi, said that the cause of children becoming autistic is still multifactor and refute news linking autism with consumption of gallons of polycarbonate water.
According to him, as long as the AMDK has obtained a permit, it is definitely safe. “If the place or container is safe and the drink doesn’t contain sugar, dye, it’s certainly safe,” said Imaculata Umiyati, Tuesday (15/2/2022).
“At that time we were talking about containers made of plastic, not the contents in the container. The cause of autism is still multifactor,” he said.
Previously, Pediatrician and Child Development Consultant, Dr. Bernie Endyarni Medise, SpA(K), MPH confirmed that there has never been a child who became autistic because he consumed reusable gallons of water.
According to him, the exact cause of this autistic child is still unknown until now. What has just been discovered is that autistic children have something to do with certain genetics, such as the presence of autism in disorders frail x syndrome.
“Some say autism is the result of a combination of genetics and the environment. But the exact cause is not yet clear. To be sure, those who say that autism is because his mother drank too many gallons of water during pregnancy is clearly wrong. It has nothing to do with it,” said Bernie Endyarni.
He said there are many theories that convey the causes of this autistic child, but the exact cause is still unknown until now. “There are links to heavy metals. However, it has often been said that it has something to do with genetics,” he said.
Autism observer, Dr dr Y Handojo MPH, also said the same thing. In his book entitled “Autism: in children”, the founder of the Nathanisa Foundation, which specializes in dealing with people with autism, said that there are several factors that are thought to be the cause of autism. Among them are genetic material owned by parents, infection (toxoplasmosis, rubella, candida), heavy metal poisoning, additives (MSG, preservatives, dyes), and other drugs.
In addition, autism is also thought to be caused by the overgrowth of fungi in the child’s intestines as a result of excessive use of antibiotics, which can cause intestinal leakage.leaky-gut syndrome) and incomplete digestion of casein and gluten. “But in general there is no international agreement regarding the causes of this autistic child,” he said.
Child psychologist and Chair of the Indonesian Child Protection Institute (LPAI), Dr Seto Mulyadi, also emphasized that until now there has not been a single parent of a child with autism in Indonesia who has reported to LPAI that their child suffers from autism because they drink too much gallon of water for reuse. “Until now, LPAI has never heard of reports of children suffering from autism because they drank too many gallons of water,” he said.
