MUDANESIA – Here comes the proof comet strongly suspected of distributing most of it ocean Earth periodically for thousands of years ago. Scientists believe, ocean it formed about 8 million years after the planet itself.
It answers the big question of how and when ocean up to Earth.
The findings, which involved astronomers from the University of Michigan, were published Oct. 9, 2012 in Nature Online.

“Life would not exist on Earth without water, so the question of how and when ocean getting here is a fundamental one,” said astronomy professor Ted Bergin.
“It’s a big puzzle. This new finding is an important part,” he said.
Bergin is a researcher on HiFi, the heterodyne instrument for infrared at the Hershel Space Observatory. With measurements from HiFi, the researchers found that ice in the comet Hartley 2 already has the same chemical composition as ocean our. Both have the same D/H ratio.

The D/H ratio is the proportion of deuterium, or heavy hydrogen, in water. An atom of deuterium is hydrogen with an extra neutron in its nucleus.
This is the first time a sea like water has been detected in comet. Six more comet HiFi measured, in recent years has a much different D/H ratio than ocean our. It means comet the same cannot be responsible, for more than 10 percent of the Earth’s water.
