In the fourth quarter of 2022, the average monthly wage increased compared to the third quarter of 2022 by 7.9%, reaching BGN 1,620.
The economic activities in which the largest increase in the average monthly salary was registered were “Education” – by 19.7%, “Human health care and social work” – by 13.9% and “Production and distribution of electric and heat energy and gaseous fuels ” – by 11.0%. A decrease in the average monthly salary was registered only in the activity “Agriculture, forestry and fisheries” – by 6.0%.
Compared to the same period of the previous year, the average monthly salary in the Plovdiv region in the fourth quarter of 2022 in the public sector increased by 17.8%, and in the private sector – by 15.5%.
In terms of the average monthly salary in the fourth quarter of 2022, Plovdiv region ranks sixth among the 28 regions in the country. The region with the highest average monthly salary is Sofia (the capital) – 2,571 BGN, and the lowest is the region of Blagoevgrad – 1,237 BGN.
For the observed period, the average monthly salary for the country is BGN 1,879 – BGN 259 or 16.0% higher than that for the Plovdiv region.
