Jakarta –
The figure of Denise Chariesta is again in the spotlight of netizens, this time because of the video of her eating sashimi while she is young. Not a few commented later, pregnant women should not eat food made from raw animal meat. What effect can it have?
“We have a sashimi party because pregnant women are allowed to eat sashimi-sashimi,” said Denise in a video uploaded to her YouTube account, Monday (22/5/2023).
“The baby is happy,” he explained further.
In response to this, the sex expert and specialist in obstetrics and gynecology, Dr. Boyke Dian Nugraha, SpOG, clarified that it is actually permissible for pregnant women to consume sashimi or food made from raw meat. But indeed, it must be ensured that the meat is clean and not contaminated with germs or bacteria so that it does not cause disturbance to the mother or fetus.
“Selectively buy marine fish. Prioritize those that come from the deep sea which are not polluted. If possible, the fish have not been cooked and are still fresh. Thank goodness they were taken from the shelter at the restaurant, they are still alive,” said Dr. Boyke to detikcomTuesday (23/5/2023).
What are the effects of pregnant women eating sashimi?
According to Dr. Boyke, if raw animal meat consumed by pregnant women is contaminated with germs or bacteria, the risk is that the mother will experience diarrhea. If there is severe diarrhea and dehydration or lack of body fluids, the growth of the fetus in the womb can be disrupted.
“If severe diarrhea occurs which results in dehydration, it will interfere with the growth of the fetus. The heavy metal itself can cause defects in the fetus,” concluded Dr. Boyke.
