Airplanes are a mode of transportation that is considered expensive. How do plane ticket prices really compare to train and bus tickets or toll and petrol costs when taking a private vehicle?

Is it true that a ticket for a domestic flight is relatively more expensive than the ticket price for other modes of transportation?
Alvin explained a number of elements that make up an airplane ticket. The original price of the plane ticket was followed by several additions that made it that big.
So, original price of airfare it is quite affordable. However, because there are taxes and other fees, airfare prices are also rising.
“Attached is the ticket I bought for a flight from Halim Perdanakusuma Airport, Jakarta to Jend A Yani Airport, Semarang. For this route the upper limit fare (TBA) is IDR 788,000. And my ticket has a total price of IDR 644,300,” Alvin told detikcomFriday (31/3/2023).
From the total price above, the breakdown of the airplane ticket price is as follows:
– Ticket IDR 434,000 (enter the airline)
– Taxes IDR 210,300 (fuel surcharge, VAT, airport fees & mandatory insurance)
– Fuel Surcharge IDR 78,800 (10% from TBA or airline rights)
– 11% VAT x (434,000 + 78,800) = IDR 56,500 (government)
– Airport levy/PJP2U = IDR 70,000 (airport manager). The amount of PJP2U varies or is different for each airport or airport terminal
– Raharja Services Compulsory Fee = IDR 5,000.
“Payments that go into airlines are IDR 434,000 + IDR 78,800 = IDR 512,800 (79.6%). The remaining IDR 131,500 (20.4%) is distributed for VAT, PJP2U & Jasa Raharja,” said Alvin.
It doesn’t stop there, Alvin also describes other comparative rates, including toll and train rates. If calculated by driving force and other factors, the basic price of airfare is low.
“For comparison, the toll fare from Jakarta to Semarang is Rp. 377,500. The price for an executive class train ticket from Gambir Jakarta Station to Tawang Semarang Station is around Rp. 360,000 to Rp. 660,000,” he said.
