Is it brighter in Alytus? | Singer’s word

Alytus City Mayor Nerijus Cesiulis shared the following post on his Facebook account:

“Is it brighter in Alytus? How come – after replacing sodium-type street lamps with LEDs, it became brighter and safer for some, and dark for others, but not on the streets, but at home. The complaint of one resident of Alysti is already becoming a joke, that the new lamps are bad, because when the old ones were there, you didn’t have to turn on the light when you woke up at night, when you went to the toilet, because the rooms were well lit by the outdoor lights, but now it’s bad, the room is dark at night. In this matter, my dears, I cannot help you, you will have to turn on the light at home at night. 😄

Just kidding, but last year we installed LED lights on 58 city streets. ☝️ The benefits of this are shown by the numbers – if 👉In 2022, street lighting consumed 2.26 million kWh of electricity, that is 👉 In 2023, after connecting LED lights, 0.97 million kWh were used for street lighting.

The numbers speak for themselves, there is nothing to say. 👍

This year, it is planned to install LED lights on another 38 streets, so in a year we will enjoy even greater savings.

Since there are a lot of discussions, disputes are not silent in the city, as it is here – brighter or darker, we decided to take pictures of night Alytus with the help of a drone. 📸

I share these photos, you can see for yourself – the difference is obvious. How is it – darker or brighter in Alytus with LED lights? 🙂

And what do you think? Has it really become brighter in Alytus?
