Is it a crime to support India? Maharashtra govt to probe Tendulkar, Lata Mangeshkar

Mumbai: The Maharashtra government has launched an inquiry into the tweet of celebrities, including sports and film stars, in support of the country in the agrarian struggle. Sachin Tendulkar, Lata Mangeshkar and Akshay Kumar’s tweets are being investigated.

The Congress had earlier raised this demand. State Congress general secretary and spokesperson Sachin Sawant had met Home Minister Anil Deshmukh to raise the issue.

The tweets in support of the Center came after the Foreign Ministry responded to Rihanna’s tweet. If a person or celebrity wants to respond to any topic it can be done. But Sachin Sawant has alleged that there are doubts as to whether the BJP is behind the tweets in support of the Center.

Anil Deshmukh said the state intelligence would investigate the matter. Pop star Rihanna has come out in support of the ongoing struggle against agricultural law. Tendulkar tweeted in response. India’s sovereignty cannot be compromised. External forces can be spectators, but not partners. Tendulkar’s response was that Indians know India well and that Indians make decisions for India.

‘If there are any problems or difficulties here, our country has all the facilities to solve them. Lata Mangeshkar tweeted that we can resolve the issue amicably keeping in mind the interest of the people of the country. The Maharashtra government is investigating celebrity tweets in support of the Center and India.
