Henry Cavill It is in a somewhat strange position. He is the current public face of Superman, having played the Man of Steel in three feature films for Warner Bros. with varying degrees of success. He is the actor as one of the most iconic superheroes in history. But he’s also the director of Netflix’s ambitious new fantasy series. The Witcher , a bet of the type Game of Thrones that the streaming service is expected to be immensely popular in the years to come, requiring a considerable time commitment from Cavill. And besides, he is also a formidable supporting actor and comedy, starring in flight stunts on stage in The Man from UNCLE and Mission: Impossible – Fallout . . He’s almost too good at too many things.
In September 2018, THR reported that Cavill it was a “split” with Warner Bros. and the character of Superman. The studio and Cavill have declined to say anything of substance about the report, and an official announcement has yet to be made to replace Cavill. Talking now with Male health Cavill said that he has not yet resigned from the position and thinks there is more story to tell:
Henry Cavill would be absent as Superman in the DCEU
It is blowing.
Justice is a funny word here, given that it sounds like Cavill’s turn as Superman didn’t have the best chance to shine. I made his character debut in the 2013 reboot, Man of Steel , but after that movie failed to capture the box office, Warner Bros. waited, they joined Superman. starring Batman (and Wonder Woman) for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice instead of moving on to a proper Man of Steel sequel. Then, seeking to advance rapidly toward success in the style of the Avengers , Cavill’s next turn as a superhero was in the League of Justice , a movie plagued with production problems that were completely restructured into covers directed by a completely different director, with the studio taking final control of the final cut.
Speaking to Men ‘s Health, Cavill offered a candid assessment of the three DC movies he’s played so far:
Reading between the lines here, it seems Cavill wasn’t thrilled that his second outing as Superman was somewhat overshadowed by Batman, either. Without disrespecting Ben Affleck , whose version of Caped Crusader was really compelling, but we barely got to meet Superman in Man of Steel and then his second movie which has to split half the screen time with a Batman reboot and a major setup for the League of Justice.
In the end, Cavill never had a Man of Steel 2 , and it deserves a chance. I think even if Warner Bros wants to reboot the character smoothly, they can stick with Cavill and use Man of Steel 2 to stop doing it. The sequel has been in development since the release of Man of Steel, with directors including Matthew Vaughn and Christopher McQuarrie presenting his shots, but Warner Bros. still hasn’t bitten.
The future of DC is unclear at this time. The success of Joker will probably mean more R-rated single points down the road, and Justice League was a wash, but Jason Momoa will return for a suite Aquaman , Gal Gadot has returned in Wonder Woman 1984 and Ezra Miller they do their best to get The Flash movie from the ground. So why not finally give Cavill a try? The guy certainly took a while and had every opportunity to discredit Warner Bros. in the last year, but he didn’t. He clearly wants to get back in the chair and get it right with Superman. So give him a great writer, a great director and leave him alone.
