Abdel Latif El-Makki, Minister of Health of the new Tunisian government, confirmed that sporting events in his country may be affected by the appearance of a case of coronavirus infection coming from Italy.
The Tunisian minister stated in statements during a press conference, and another on the Tunisian Radio Mozaik, that the committee that follows the Corona virus in Tunisia is currently handling the matter.
In his statements to the press conference, Al-Makki said: “We are studying the matter from all sides, and it is possible to take any possible action, including preventing sports trips or demonstrations.”
He continued: “We have a committee to manage the matter, and it meets on a daily basis to keep pace with developments and accordingly it is possible to take new measures.”
He added: “Reports will be submitted to the presidency of the government, and accordingly decisions will be taken, and more details will be announced tomorrow, Tuesday.”
Abdel-Latif El-Makki spoke through Mouazyik, saying: “The Esperance match with Zamalek is also in mind.”
He concluded: “We have about 900 people who passed through the quarantine in Tunisia, and about 500 of them went out, we are studying things continuously to assess the situation.”
Zamalek will meet Tunisia’s Esperance at Rades stadium next Friday, as part of the second leg of the African Champions League quarter-finals.
