Diabetics need to be aware of their daily sugar intake. Many of them consider consuming brown sugar to be safer than white sugar. Is it true?
Consuming granulated sugar or white sugar is avoided by the majority of diabetes sufferers because it can trigger a spike in blood sugar levels. Not surprisingly, many of them replace their daily sugar consumption with brown sugar.
This type of sugar is believed to be safer for consumption by diabetics. But is that true?

Brown sugar is usually made by adding molasses to processed white sugar, which gives it a darker color and supplies small amounts of vitamins and minerals.
However, if you look at its weight, brown sugar is slightly lower in calories and carbohydrates than white sugar.
Brown sugar also contains more calcium, iron, and potassium, although the amounts of these nutrients found in one serving are not significant.

Whatever type of sugar you eat, you need to maintain healthy blood sugar levels. This is especially important if you are diabetic.
Changing your diet to reduce sugar and carbohydrate intake can prevent the risk of further diabetes complications in the long term.
Brown sugar and white sugar are both considered sugar additives. It is associated with decreased insulin sensitivity and increased risk of developing several chronic conditions.
