New York Rangers send Brennan Othmann to the junior team – is he coming back to EHC Olten?

Brennan Othmann delighted many Swiss ice hockey fans in the dress of EHC Olten last season and demonstrated his great talent from game to game. Finally he was drafted in 16th place by the New York Rangers, whereupon he signed his entry-level contract with the organization.
During these days Brennan Othmann, whose uncle Robert already played at EHC Olten, came to his very first NHL preseason assignment – and was challenged: He was used as a first-line striker and received ice age in the second power play line. But now the New York Rangers have sent Brennan Othmann back to his junior team Flint Firebirds in the OHL. This is basically the usual way of NHL draft players, but the fact that it already happens at this point surprises one or the other expert.
And so the big question inevitably arises: is Brennan Othmann coming back to Switzerland? And is he coming back to EHC Olten? EHCO sports director Marc Grieder turns up his nose. He was in contact with Othmann’s agents and will contact him again, but the signs are growing that he will tackle the season in the junior team. There he will continue to develop according to the gusto of the New York Rangers, take on great responsibility and will gradually be brought up to the NHL level.

Brennan Othmann answered questions from the media on site in New York before it was clear that he would be sent to the junior team (see video below). For Othmann, the move should not be a disappointment, much more he emphasized in the press conference what wonderful experiences he was able to gain in the preparation phase with the Rangers. “It’s unbelievable for me. I’m one of the last juniors on the team, that feels very special. But I’m really happy that I can learn so much from all the experienced players. I can’t wait to see all can take these things to the juniors. “

He also learns a lot besides the ice cream and in the process told an episode that he was surprised when he was asked to change clothes after the game and go to the next workout. “There is no such thing in the juniors,” he said.
Afterwards, Othmann said that he was very nervous in his first preparation game and that the feeling did not subside when it started. “I was nervous from the first to the last shift, you don’t want to make a mistake,” he said, but was nevertheless satisfied with his premiere: “I think I played a good game and will be in the next few games. or maybe next year, perform with more confidence. “
