Germany was the first country in Europe to sound the alarm about the risks associated with the AstraZeneca vaccine, blocking its administration for a few days starting from 15 March, a decision that was immediately imitated by various European countries, including Italy. And also the one where there have been more cases of complications, such as cerebral thrombosis or disseminated intravascular coagulation, after inoculation: at the present time there were 31 cases out of over 2.8 million doses administered. Nine of these cases resulted in the patient’s death. At the moment, in the Federal Republic the Anglo-Swedish vaccine comes inoculated only to people over 60 years of age. The Commission on Vaccines (Stiko) announced yesterday that those who have already received the first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine and are under 60 years old will have to do the booster with another serum, Pfizer or Moderna.
