Artificial Intelligence or AI (in the English version Artificial Intelligence) has already taken the place of brushes and canvases, cameras and prints, chisels and hard modeling stone for several artists. Let’s take stock of the situation through the story of AI Yoga for Artistic Intelligencesthe exhibition curated by Valerio Borgonuovo, which was hosted at the MEET Digital Culture Center of Milan. An ultra-contemporary art exhibition that well represents the fundamental turning point in the reflection on the relationship between technology and creativity. In an era in which artificial intelligence is taking on an increasingly central role, Lenovo wanted to investigate how artists can use technology as a creative tool, entrusting each of the participants with a Yoga Slim 7x. It is no longer a traditional one personal computerbut of a Copilot+ PC.
The Copilot+ PC differs from a normal PC by the integration of a neural processing unit (NPU) capable of performing up to 45 trillion operations per second, allowing it to process visual, audio and textual data in real time without relying on external servers. Translated, it means that it does not need to fish data from the network in order to process. This allows artists to leverage AI to generate and transform works of art in ways that are impossible to achieve with traditional tools such as brushes or cameras.

An extension of artistic thinking
What emerges from this exhibition is the adoption of AI as aextension of artistic thought. Let’s take the case of You Are Making Art Of Andrea Meregallian installation that combines audience interaction with a camera and an AI system to create ever-evolving digital portraits. In this process, the artist is not only a creator, but also a mediator of the machine’s creative power, offering the public an active role in artistic production. A real one collaboration and co-creation in which AI, acts as creative partnernot as just an executive tool.
Another example is the work of Mattia Piatti, Ginkgo Biloba Archivewhere the power of technology is put at the service of the visual representation of time and memory. Here, AI helps capture intricate details of the leaves of this ancient tree, giving images a depth and precision that goes beyond the capabilities of traditional photography. In this example the AI works as expansion of creative possibilities because the computational power of Copilot+ PC intervenes to provide artists with tools that expand their creative possibilities and allow them to explore complex themes or create works that, without AI, would be impossible to create.

Source of inspiration and reflection
But the collaboration between artist and machine also sees AI as one source of inspiration and reflection. To explore this usage is Accurat Studiowho created a device of information design called Painters In The Making 3.0. This work analyzing eight centuries of Western art history uses AI to compare artistic styles and movements in a way that defies human interpretation. This processing not only helps to reflect on artistic interpretations, but becomes a real tool for inspiring new forms of creation, stimulating questions about the relationship between data and art.
The exhibition reflects on the future of art in the age of artificial intelligence and opens a debate on how technology can redefine human creativity. The work Brave New World – Dancing with the Machine Of Lorenzo Bacci and Flavio Moriniello explores the concept of a dystopian society: in this work AI is used to create snapshots that reflect the culture rave. Here, technology not only documents, but amplifies visual storytelling, suggesting a future in which digital and physical reality merge.
