Elkin Diaza widely recognized actor on Colombian television, has had a remarkable career, standing out in various productions such as “Tres caínes”, “El último casado feliz” and “Juegos prohibidos”, which have earned him both public applause and critical praise.
Known in the country for his outstanding career in entertainment, surprised his followers by sharing a video on his Instagram account in which he appears driving a motorcycle taxi.
In the clip, the actor explains that Due to the difficult situation in the television industry, has been forced to look for new sources of income.
“As the situation in television was so difficult, I had to come here to Santa Marta to work as a motorcycle taxi driver. So I’m here working as a motorcycle taxi driver, please, SOS,” Diaz comments while carrying two passengers.
The post has caused a stir on social media, provoking various reactions among her followers. Many of them have expressed their support, highlighting the dignity and effort that any honest job represents.
However, what seemed to be a cry for help from the actor in the face of the lack of work in his profession, turned out to be part of a marketing strategy. Elkin would not be working in motorcycle taxis nor anything related to this guild, since it was learned that the actor has a company called “Elkinventura”, which it takes advantage of by offering tourist packages in the coastal region of Colombia.
The artist’s project consists of promoting diving courses for tourists who want to learn this activity.
Among the activities offered by “Elkinventura” are:
1. Diving courses: with prices ranging from $130,000 to $300,000
2. Advanced Certifications: For those looking to take their passion for diving to the next level
3. Boat rentals and sightseeing tours: The company also offers boat rentals, which can accommodate up to 10 people.
Thus, the “SOS” that was launched the actor, who in 2021 was at the Cannes Film Festival with the film Memory, It was just a strategy to promote his business.
Who is Elkin Diaz?
Elkin Díaz, a Colombian actor born on October 29, 1963 in Cúcuta, has excelled in his artistic career thanks to his versatility and acting ability. Over the years, he has achieved recognition from both the public and critics for his outstanding performances in various genres.
Elkin Díaz is a graduate of the Colegio San Ignacio de Loyola in Cúcuta and a graduate of the National School of Dramatic Arts. His entry to this school was somewhat unexpected, since he was registered by a friend and, among 130 applicants, he was one of the 20 selected to be part of the institution.
Díaz has worked in multiple television, film and theater productions, establishing himself as a highly talented actor. His performances in soap operas and series have been especially praised, demonstrating his ability to take on a wide variety of characters and leaving a significant mark on the industry.
Elkin Díaz began his television career in 1993 with the series The last kiss. From there, he participated in numerous productions, such as Candela (1994), Like Peter in his house, The Mayor’s Family, Prisoners of love (1997), Oh, you pretty little thing, mommy! (1998), The War of the Roses (1999), Maria Dawn (2002), Dora the caretaker (2004), y Pocholo (2007) with Caracol Television.
He was also in Forbidden games (2006) in Teleset, The last happy marriage (2008), which earned him the India Catalina Award for Best Antagonist Actor, I’ll wait for you there (2011), With bare hands (2011) from RCN Television, and The boss (2009) de FoxTelecolombia.
In cinema, he debuted as a leading role alongside Juanita Acosta in the film It is better to be rich than poor (1999) by Ricardo Coral-Dorado. Later, he participated in The king (2004) by Jose Antonio Dorado Zuniga, The muleteer (2008) by Guillermo Calle, Gabriel’s Passion (2009) by Luis Alberto Restrepo, Fat, bald and short (2012) by Carlos Osuna, The reader (2012) by Ricardo Gabrielli, and was the protagonist of Fable of a conspiracy (2012), a Spanish-Colombian production directed by Carlos Varela.
Another of his most important roles was in the tape Memory, by Thai director Apichatpong Weerasethakul, which was awarded the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival in 2021, one of the most important awards in the history of Colombian cinema.
The actor currently resides in the city of Santa Martaknown as “the most beautiful bay in America” where he himself directs ““Elikinventura”, which promotes aquatic activities as a way to connect people with the sea and encourage environmental care.
In one of his posts, he commented: “A space to live the experience of diving. By taking care of the environment, you learn to value life (…) In Santa Marta, I await you to enjoy the wonders that the depths of the Sierra de Santa Marta offer us.”
