Apple is scheduled to start mass production for a successor to the entry-level iPhone SE in February. It may be available in March. […]
As «Bloomberg» reports (English), a new budget iPhone is to come in March. Bloomberg claims to have learned from Apple’s supply chain that production of the new iPhone should start in February. Apple will then officially present the new cheap iPhone in March.
Rumor has it that the new cheap iPhone might look similar to the iPhone 8, with a 4.7-inch LCD display and thicker top and bottom bezels. Instead of Face ID, a Touch ID home button is to be installed. Like «Macrumors» writes (English), it will be equipped with the modern A-13 chip and with 3 GB RAM.
The iPhone will be the first really affordable iPhone since Apple launched the iPhone SE.
Therefore, according to some rumors, the device currently under discussion is referred to as iPhone SE 2. Elsewhere it is called iPhone 9.
Whether the cheap iPhone really comes is currently unclear. Apple has declined an official comment to “Bloomberg”.
