SERAMBINEWS.COM – Former Aceh Governor Irwandi Yusuf was examined by the Corruption Eradication Commission as a witness in the alleged corruption case of accepting gratuities related to an infrastructure development project in Aceh for the suspect Izil Azhar or Ayah Merin.
Irwandi Yusuf claims he is not aware of the alleged Rp. 32.4 billion in gratuities given through the former Commander of the Free Aceh Movement (GAM) Izil Azhar alias Merin’s father.
Irwandi admitted that Izil brought his name so that he could easily be given money.
Irwandi is adamant that he is not related to the gratuity case that has offended his confidants.
The politician from the Nanggroe Aceh Party (PNA) claims that Izil took his name to receive money.
According to him, Izil Azhar used the money to distribute it to former GAM commanders.
After being examined by the KPK, Irwandi admitted that he was asked 40 questions by investigators regarding the Izil case.
He denied that Izil received gratuities to be given to him.
“Not really. I didn’t know my name was on it. I don’t know. The year after it became a case,” he said in Jakarta, Thursday (16/2/2023).
He said, Izil used his name so that it was easy to give gratuities.
“That’s not true, I don’t know, my name is listed there, I don’t know. The year after it became a case,” said Irwandi when met by media crew at the KPK’s Merah Putih building, Thursday (16/2/2023).
According to Irwandi, Izil admitted that the money he received was distributed among the commanders of the Free Aceh Movement (GAM).
“He admitted to giving love to GAM commanders,” he said.
In fact, he did not receive any cash flow from Izil.
