NEW YORK – Irving Plaza, one of New York City’s iconic concert venues, is scheduled to reopen this summer after an extensive multi-million dollar renovation and a hiatus from indoor live performances due to the pandemic in course.
To date, more than 40 shows have been confirmed as part of the venue’s grand reopening with Ashley McBryde scheduled to be the first artist to perform on Tuesday, August 17.
Irving Plaza has been an iconic New York City site since 1978, closing in 2019 for renovations. Now the fully restored Irving Plaza will host 1,200 fans with improved sight lines, state-of-the-art sound and lights, and other updates.
According to the venue’s owner Live Nation, he focused on enhancing the overall concert experience throughout Irving Plaza while maintaining the venue’s 19th-century charm.

It will be great to finally be able to reconnect music fans with their favorite artists, especially here in this beautifully restored room, “said Geoff Gordon, Live Nation regional president, in a statement. “Irving Plaza is full of incredible musical memories and these spectacular renovations will allow us to host even more incredible concerts.”
Renovations include an exclusive VIP lounge with private bar and balcony level boxes with unobstructed views of the stage. In addition, two renovated dressing rooms will have direct access to the stage and an adjacent room with a private bathroom and amenities for the performing artists. The expanded lobby and bar area provide a new space for multifunctional use.
