IRS offers over 700 new jobs to help taxpayers – NBC New York (47)

NEW YORK – The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is offering more than 700 new jobs to help taxpayers at Taxpayer Assistance Centers across the United States.

“This is a major priority to provide more services to the IRS for the upcoming tax filing season,” said Ken Corbin, taxpayer experience manager and payroll and investment commissioner for the service. “We are working to have more than 270 walk-in sites fully staffed to provide the help taxpayers need and deserve. This will be the first time in a decade that our walk-in sites will be fully staffed “.

This staff increase is part of much broader improvements to the IRS enabled by Inflation Reduction Act funds passed in August 2022, with further updates on the implementation of the landmark decade-long legislation to be provided shortly.

IRS employees not only serve the agency, but they are essential to the nation’s tax administration, which collects nearly 96 percent of the nation’s revenue needed to fund nearly all federal government programs. The agency’s work supports vital nationwide initiatives, from United States national security and defense to Social Security, as well as programs and projects that include parks and forests, highways and bridges, libraries, museums, schools and more.

For these 700 vacancies, the technical positions needed are Individual Tax Advisors who provide face-to-face assistance at the IRS TAC offices and Initial Assistance Representatives who are responsible for receiving and determining the needs of taxpayers who visit the IRS offices. ‘IRS CT.

These positions have competitive salaries and benefits, including on-the-job training, opportunities for advancement, life and health insurance, and a federal pension.

The IRS also offers a number of workplace flexibilities to help employees balance careers and home with 11 paid holidays, 13 days off, and sick leave. In addition to face-to-face representatives and telephone assistants, the IRS is also working to hire other individuals across the agency, not only in taxpayer service areas, but also in information technology and compliance positions.

All employees must be US citizens and pass an FBI fingerprint check and tax compliance check. No federal experience is required. The candidate may have experience in the public sector, private sector or voluntary sector.
