Irrational pepper spray attack on MTA Driver in New York – NBC New York

NEW YORK – NYPD is looking for a man who got into an MTA bus as a passenger and sprayed the driver out of nowhere.

Police said the attack occurred around 9:30 am on Sept. 15, when the 35-year-old driver was operating on the MTA 9784 bus near West 162 Street and Edgecombe Avenue.

It was then that an unidentified individual stopped the bus and approached the victim. Without provocation, the suspect took out a can of pepper spray and mercilessly sprayed the MTA driver in the eyes and mouth.

After the incident, police said the individual escaped by bicycle heading west on West 162 Street. The victim suffered burns and irritation from the gas and was taken to Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in stable condition.

Police released a surveillance video showing the suspect.
