With the Ironman in Hawaii, another major sporting event fell victim to the corona crisis this year. As the organizers announced, the prestigious long-distance triathlon competition has to be postponed for the first time in its history. The competition planned for October 10 is now to be rescheduled on February 6, 2021. This means that the title fights would take place twice in the coming year for the first time since 1982, because the organizers want to stick to the race date after next on October 9, 2021. The decision was made mainly because of the current problems with qualifications and the current international border and travel restrictions in Hawaii, according to a joint statement by the tour operator and the local authorities.
