New Nayarit. The Ironman 70.3 Riviera Nayarit concluded this Sunday afternoon, one of the most important triathlons in the world that brought together 1,500 athletes from 38 countries.
The competition held in this municipality of Bahia de Banderas, Nayarit, started with a 1.9 kilometer swimming section on the beaches of Nuevo Nayarit, followed by a 90 kilometer bicycle ride and concluded with a 21 kilometer race in the hotel zone .
Some six thousand tourists occupied rooms along the tourist strip of this municipality who only came to be present at this world-class tournament. Many local residents also took the opportunity to watch the triathlon tournament throughout the day.
Authorities reported a white balance at the conclusion of the sporting event, for which there was an extensive police and road surveillance device of the three government orders. It is estimated that this event left a loss of 73 million pesos.
THE WINNERS
In the men’s branch, the winners were:
• First place: Andoni Valencia, 26 years old, originally from Guadalajara, with a time of 4 hours, 11 minutes and 43 seconds.
• Second place: Edgar López Jiménez, 45 years old, from Zapopan, with a time of 4 hours, 14 minutes and 16 seconds.
• Third place: Raúl Exotla, 26 years old, from Mexico City, with a time of 4 hours, 16 minutes and 2 seconds.
In the women’s category, the winners were:
• First place: Carina Polanco Jiménez, 29 years old, Mexican American from California, United States, of Nayarit roots with a time of 5 hours, 1 minute and 19 seconds.
• Second place: Evelyn Mena Moreno, 33 years old, from Aguascalientes, with a time of 5 hours, 2 minutes and 4 seconds.
• Third place: Estefany Isabel Segura, 32 years old, from Ensenada, Baja California, with a time of 5 hours, 3 minutes and 27 seconds.
