One photo taken by a refugee reveals nearly every seat on his flight abroad is empty.
Paul ‘Pen’ Farthing, a former commando of the British Royal Marines who operates an animal shelter in the Afghan capital, shared a photo taken by his wife showing the interior of a military transport plane involved in an evacuation operation in Kabul.

The dimly lit plane was almost completely empty, with rows of empty seats.

“Kaisa is on his way home,” Farthing tweeted Thursday, referring to his wife. “BUT this plane is empty… it’s a shame that thousands of people waiting outside the #Kabul airport were destroyed because they couldn’t get in. Unfortunately people will be left behind when this mission is over because we CANNOT do it right.”
