Iron Maiden lead singer Paul Di’Anno has died

British vocalist Paul Di’Anno, the lead singer of heavy metal titans Iron Maiden, has died at the age of sixty-six. His death was confirmed by his family through the label Conquest Music. Paul Di’Anno, real name Paul Andrews, was born in Chingford, East London. He joined Iron Maiden in November 1978 and spent three crucial years with the band, which made it a star of the then New Wave of British heavy metal. His voice is heard on the debut “Iron Maiden” and the following double album “Killers”. After that, the group broke up with him, mainly due to his drug addiction, and Bruce Dickinson took his place. Di’Anno didn’t stop with music after that, he worked in the bands Battlezone and Killers, guested on a number of albums and gave concerts under his own name. In recent years, due to health problems, he had to sing from a wheelchair, but that did not stop him from playing around a hundred concerts a year. His career after Iron Maiden was summarized by the compilation “The Book of the Beast” released this year. In the current line-up, the famous formation is heading for a tour next year, which will offer a setlist composed only of songs from the first nine albums, i.e. from “Iron Maiden” to “Fear Of The Dark”. The musicians promise the grandest and most elaborate show ever. It will also stop in the Czech Republic – specifically on May 31 in Prague’s Letňany.”;$(this).parent().parent().html(tmpo);return false;”>
