Four Irish youngsters have made it to the semi-finals of Britain’s Got Talent and one of them has already won a place in the final. Meath teenager, James Martin, wowed judges with his combination of sabre fencing and acrobatics, earning him praise from all four judges. Fellow Irish schoolboy, Cillian O’Connor, also secured his place in the final with a mesmerizing performance that left the judges and the audience spellbound. The other two acts, Lilliana Clifton and Adam Prendergast, were also highly praised, but narrowly missed out on the final.
All four acts received overwhelming support from fans on social media, with many viewers taking to Twitter to express their delight at the high standard of talent on display. James Martin, who originally hails from Australia but has lived in Ireland for the past nine years, first picked up a sabre at the age of six, and has been perfecting his fencing skills ever since. He also has a background in acrobatics, which he likes to incorporate into his performance. His unique act impressed the judges, who commented on his athleticism, strength and precision.
Cillian O’Connor, a 14-year-old schoolboy from Dublin, showcased his singing talent, delivering a powerful rendition of ‘She Used to Be Mine’ from the Broadway musical Waitress. His performance left the judges and the audience completely captivated. Before his performance, Cillian told the judges that he had been singing since the age of four, but had never performed in front of such a large audience before. He added that he hoped to inspire other young talents to pursue their dreams.
Lilliana Clifton, a 12-year-old from Cork, impressed the judges with her ballroom dancing skills, performing a powerful routine with partner, Michael. The young duo received high praise from judges, who called their dance “magnificent” and “mesmerizing”. Commenting on her performance, Lilliana said, “I’m just so happy to have made it this far, and to have been able to showcase my passion for dance.”
Adam Prendergast, a 15-year-old from Leitrim, performed a traditional Irish dance routine, which included a mix of reel, jig and hornpipe steps. The judges praised his “phenomenal” footwork and said his dance was “full of energy”. Adam said that he had been dancing since the age of five and hoped to keep the tradition alive for future generations.
All four Irish youngsters will now compete in the final of Britain’s Got Talent, where they will go head-to-head with some of the best acts from across the UK. The final will take place next month in Manchester, and the winner will receive a cash prize of £250,000, as well as the chance to perform in front of the Queen at the Royal Variety Performance.
