Jakarta, Selular.ID – Ireland’s data privacy regulator asked Facebook to be able to show that the LED indicator lights on the social media giant’s newly launched smart glasses, in collaboration with Rayban, could signal to local people that they are being filmed or photographed.
“Although many devices including smartphones can record a person, it is generally the case that a camera or cell phone is seen as the device used for recording. So that makes those who take pictures of the footage can be wary,” the Irish regulator said in a statement.
So with smart glasses that are equipped with lenses, it is necessary to underline about the security of the privacy of the people around them, “Because it has not been proven that Facebook or Rayban in this case can ensure that the LED indicator lights up when recording / taking pictures is on. And this is an effective way to give notifications to people around the user,” he continued.
Previously, Facebook and Rayban launched smart glasses which contained two lenses that could be shared across all Facebook services using a companion application.
The results of the shots and videos can also be directly saved on the Facebook application, which you can then edit and send to social applications such as Instagram, Messenger, Twitter, TikTok, Snapchat, and others.
For the price alone, this device is $299 or around Rp. 4.2 million, and is already available in the European market, and of course it is possible that it will enter the Asian market, including Indonesia.
