An Irish celebrity, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is facing charges of defilement of a minor and has been sent forward for trial at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court. The man, who is in his 40s, is accused of three charges of engaging in sexual acts with a child under the age of 17 at unknown locations in Dublin in 2010 and early 2011. The complainant is now in her late 20s. The man denies all charges against him and the trial is due to begin on October 9th, expected to last four or five days. The case has been adjourned again until July 24th for a hearing to discuss issues around outstanding disclosure. Defence counsel had requested an early trial date due to the serious effect the case is having on the client, who travels for work.
