Iriana Jokowi and Madam Peng Liyuan exchange traditional musical instruments

Capital Iriana Joko Widodo met with First Lady of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) Madam Peng Liyuan at Apurva Kempinski Hotel, Bali. Iriana and Peng exchanged souvenirs in the form of traditional musical instruments from each country.

In a written statement from the Press, Media and Information Office of the Presidential Secretariat on Wednesday (11/16/2022), Iriana handed over the Sasando musical instrument from Rote Ndao Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province (NTT) to Peng. Meanwhile Peng gave Iriana a souvenir in the form of 阮 (ruan) which is a traditional Chinese stringed musical instrument.

Peng was greeted by Iriana as she arrived in the arrivals hall. The two then walked down the hotel lobby together accompanied by the melodies of Balinese gamelan music. Arriving at the hotel pavilion, Iriana and Peng then had a photo shoot together.

Afterwards, Iriana invited Peng to see an array of typical Balinese handicrafts, ranging from endek fabrics, gold and silverware, to carved wooden statues. Iriana and Peng’s meeting ended with a tea party which was held in the Kashi Room.

Meanwhile, President Jokowi also held a bilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping. Jokowi is delighted to be able to welcome ‘Big Brother’ to Bali.

“Once again I would like to welcome President Xi Jinping to Bali and I am very pleased to welcome his older brother to Bali after our meeting in Beijing,” Jokowi said in a press release after the bilateral meeting broadcast on ‘ Presidential Secretariat YouTube account. , Wednesday (16/11 ).

Jokowi also expressed his congratulations to Xi Jinping. Xi has just been re-elected general secretary of the Communist Party of China.

“And I also directly want to convey my congratulations on Your Excellency’s re-election as General Secretary of the Communist Party of China,” Jokowi said.

During the meeting, Jokowi and Xi discussed the Jakarta-Bandung fast train. Jokowi is optimistic that the fast train can operate in June 2023.

“As for the progress of the other cooperation, we have communicated it to President Xi,” Jokowi said.
