In the context of international challenges and events on a global and European scale, health tourism is a serious and real opportunity to offer a year-round and quality product.
This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Irena Georgieva, at the opening of the XI annual congress of the Bulgarian Union of Balneology and Spa Tourism.
The theme of this year’s forum is “Sustainable development of Health Tourism in Bulgaria – opportunities and challenges”, and the congress is held under the patronage of the President of Bulgaria Rumen Radev and with the support of the Ministry of Tourism and the Municipality of Burgas.
Deputy Minister Georgieva emphasized that the development of health tourism is recognized as one of our priorities for development in the National Strategy for the Sustainable Development of Tourism in Bulgaria for the period 2014-2030.
“I believe that there is no other way for the successful development of Bulgaria’s tourism product, except for the protection and use of resources in the best possible way, the continuous improvement of quality, implementation of innovations and the best global practices in the field, adherence to a policy of sustainable development, striving for ever better performance and ever more active and targeted marketing activities”, added Georgieva.
Deputy Minister Georgieva also emphasized that among the main challenges facing the industry, in addition to the lack of personnel, is the retention of highly qualified specialists at work in our country, therefore it is necessary to motivate young people to dedicate themselves to professions in tourism.
