The United States hosted two major CSIs this weekend. The first, a CSI-W counting for the North American World Cup circuit. It took place in Ocala, Florida and crowned Bertram Allen, decidedly in great shape across the Atlantic in recent weeks since he pocketed another Grand Prix victory with his gray Harley vd Bisschop (Dulf van des Bisschop, Bwp) against ten other roadblockers, each more formidable than the other. Ireland almost got a full house, since in addition to the second place of Daniel Coyle and Legacy (Chippendale Z), Conor Swail finished at the foot of the podium with the Selle Français Vital Chance*de la Roque (Diamant of Semilly). It is nothing less than the reigning European champion couple, Andre Thieme and DSP Chakaria (Chap 47, OS), who come to insert themselves in the middle of all these Irishmen, in third position.
Still in Florida, but this time at the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, the Irish anthem also resounded in the CSIO4* Nations Cup thanks to the performances of Andrew Bourns, Cian O’Connor, Eoin McMahon and Max Wachman. The latter also had under his saddle a certain… Berlux Z (Berlin, Holst), ex-Olympic mount of Simon Delestre. The eleven-year-old gelding played a large part in the victory of the Emerald Isle, since he is the only one on the team to have lined up two perfect courses over the two legs of the event. Canada and the United States complete the podium, respectively placed second and third.
