born in the 1980s in Wales to an Iraqi family from Najaf, Taher’s journey to becoming a humanitarian hero began in London, where he worked in a health institution after graduating from a British university. One of his most remarkable achievements was the triumphant replantation of a nine-year-old girl’s arm,which had been amputated due to an Israeli bombing in Deir al-Balah. “He asked to bring the amputated part of the arm, which had been under rubble for 3 days,” the report states. “After ensuring that it could be returned,he performed a complex and qualitative surgery in challenging health and medical conditions,and succeeded in connecting the amputated part to the arm.”

Despite multiple warnings as the Israeli army advanced into southern Gaza, he chose to remain at his own risk. “This decision came despite the end of his official medical mission, which was scheduled for 3 months, which reflected his deep commitment to humanitarian work,” the report notes.
