According to foreign media such as the AP and AFP, a court in Baghdad, Iraq, on the 7th (local time), told President Trump, who ordered an operation in connection with the killing of the commander of Iran’s Kuds Army (revolutionary guard elite) in Iraq by U.S. forces in January last year. An arrest warrant was issued for Korea.
The court said, “An investigation is underway to identify the culprit, and whether they are Iraqi or foreigners, it will not be.” The court applied Section 406 of the Criminal Code, intentional murder. The death penalty is sentenced for this crime.
In January last year, the US military used a drone in Baghdad, Iraq, to kill Commander Soleimani at the airport. Deputy commander Abu Mahdi Almuhandis of Iraq’s pro-Iran Shiite militia (Hahad al-Sabi, PMF) was also killed.
The US Department of Defense announced that it had been killed under the direction of President Trump. Iran already issued an arrest warrant for President Trump in June of last year.
The US’s killing of Soleimani eroded relations with Iraq and Iran. The inauguration of US President-elect Joe Biden, Trump’s tenure remains until the 20th.
