Iraqi armed groups announce that they are targeting a “critical site” in northern Israel

This comes amid heightened regional tensions against the background of the war between Israel and Hamas, which has been ongoing for more than 11 months in the Gaza Strip, and the entry of Lebanon’s Hezbollah into – into the front line with groups loyal to Tehran.

Early Wednesday morning, Lebanon’s Hezbollah announced that the Israeli base “Ilania” had been bombed.

Hezbollah said in a statement that it “targeted the Israeli base with a series of Fadi 1 missiles”.

The so-called “Islamic Resistance in Iraq” said it targeted a “critical” site in northern Israel with the “Arqab” missile, which is an “improved cruise missile”.

The group also announced “the launch of a drone against an Israeli target near the Jordan Valley.”

Israel’s Army Radio reported that “a drone crashed in the village of Sapir in Wadi Araba.”

The same pro-Iran group announced on Sunday that it had targeted a “critical target” in Israel with drones.

On Sunday, the Israeli army indicated that it “intercepted two suspicious aerial targets en route from Iraq without causing casualties,” stressing that “they did not enter Israeli airspace.”
