Iraq: at least 23 dead in the fire of a hospital dedicated to Covid-19 (doctors, security)

At least 23 people were killed in a fire started overnight from Saturday to Sunday in an intensive care unit treating Covid-19 patients in Baghdad, medical and security sources told AFP.

The explosion was due to a “breach of safety in the storage of oxygen cylinders,” medical sources explained, as videos posted on social media showed firefighters attempting to put out the flames in the floors of the Ibn al-Khatib hospital in the midst of a crowd of patients and relatives trying to escape from the building.
