Irapuato, Guanajuato.- After two years of starting a project to support women with cancer and premature babies who are cared for in the Irapuato Maternal and Child Hospital, Tomás Antonio Aguilar Aviña, resumed the voluntary blood donation campaign.
He said that this project began in 2018, when he was studying at the University of Guanajuato and it was part of the students’ association, but in itself it was born out of the need that the hospital had, since it is very difficult for people to be encouraged to donate.
It is very difficult for people to donate blood, but at that time we said: we are going to focus the project on the university and we are going to carry it out, we were afraid because we were uncertain that people would not want to donate, “he said.

Fearing that young people would not dare to donate, they went to staff from the Maternal and Child Hospital and explained how the donation was carried out and what it was for, information that they transmitted to all the young people of the university, in addition to ‘taking’ the hospital to school and doing the blood collection.
Aguilar Aviña, mentioned that in that donation they obtained 120 units of blood of which only 50% were effective, this after performing all the tests on the blood.
These units were practically used for women with cancer and premature children ”, he said.
Explained that the campaign in 2020 was affected by the pandemic of the COVID since it couldn’t be carried out at school like they did the first time, so now that he graduated, he plans to take this project to the general public.
Other colleagues were asking us to reactivate this project, but due to the situation of the pandemic, we took the hospital to the university. We are currently in the year 2021 and I said: why not take up the project again but on a larger scale, invite all Irapuatenses to achieve greater objectives and greater scope ”, he indicated.
People who want to donate blood have to know that at the moment they are focused on helping the Maternal and Child Hospital, so Those who want to do so must go on a fast from 7 in the morning to 12 in the afternoon to the hospital care module.

For this year expect to exceed the goal of receiving 200 to 250 effective units to help women with cancer and premature children.
