Iraola ends Arteta and Arsenal’s unbeaten record with ten

MADRID October 19 (EUROPA PRESS) –

Bournemouth beat Arsenal (2-0) this Saturday on matchday eight in the Premier League, ending the unbeaten streak of Mikel Arteta’s side and their fight for leadership, while Aston Villa kept their ‘Top 4’ and Manchester United won a month later.

The Spanish coach of the ‘Cherries’, Andoni Iraola, gave a blow to the Spanish Arteta as well and to Arsenal who accused William Saliba of being one less because of the red card at half an hour. The Gunners held on until Ryan Christie scored the first goal in the 70th minute and, shortly after, Justin Kluivert made it 2-0.

Thus, Arsenal lost the option to push for the lead and also suffered their first defeat of the season, leaving them with 17 points, 17 for Manchester City and 18 for the leader Liverpool, both with one less game. Iraola’s men add three important points in an irregular season, to move away from the lower belt.

Earlier, Ollie Watkins’ fifth league goal helped Aston Villa stay in the Champions League with a 1-3 win over Fulham, who are beginning to fall from the top of the table. Unai Emery’s men, who led the ‘criminals’ to a historic start, started behind on the scoreboard and were saved from the second thanks to Draw Martínez saving a penalty in the first half.

With one less in the last half hour, Fulham could not prevent the return of Villa who are in fourth place with 17 points, responding to Brighton (15) who surprised (0-1) Newcastle . In addition, the national team break was ideal for Tottenham and Manchester United to climb the table with victories against West Ham and Brentford.

The ‘Spurs’ came back (4-1) in a dramatic second half to win the north London derby and seventh place, while the ‘Red Devils’ ended their drought victory over a month thanks to the goals of Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund, who released the pressure on their coach Erik ten Hag.
