Iran’s nuclear facilities not affected by Israeli attacks

Jakarta

Israel attacked the capital IranTehran and other cities. The United Nations (UN) atomic energy watchdog said that Israel’s air strikes did not affect Iran’s nuclear program.

“The nuclear facilities of Iran have not been affected,” wrote the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi in X, as reported by AFP, Sunday (27/10/2024).

Grossi warned of caution regarding nuclear security. Because, he said, radioactive materials endanger safety.

“Care and self-control from actions that could endanger the safety and security of nuclear materials and other radioactive materials,” he said.

Iran is claiming damages

Iran’s military said only the radar system was damaged in Israel’s pre-dawn strikes on Tehran and other areas. Iran says it prioritizes a ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon.

“Thanks to the timely performance of the country’s air defenses, the attack caused limited damage and some radar systems were damaged,” the general staff of the armed forces said in a statement read on state television, as reported by AFP, Sunday (27/10).

Iran says most of Israel’s missiles have been intercepted. Iran said that Israeli planes were prevented from entering its territory.

“Most of the missiles were intercepted and enemy aircraft were prevented from entering the country’s airspace,” the statement said.
