Iran’s largest warship burns and sinks in the Gulf of Oman

TEHERAN, KOMPAS.TV – The largest warship belonging to the Iranian Navy (AL) caught fire and sank in the Gulf of Oman, on Wednesday (2/6/2021).

Until now, the cause of the fire the supporting warship named Kharg is still unknown.

News agency Fars and Tasnim stated, attempts to save the warship failed.

Kharg, named after the island that is Iran’s main oil terminal, is described as a training warship.

Launch Associated Press, the fire started at around 2:25 am local time.

Officers had tried to extinguish it, but the warship then sank near the Iranian port of Jask, about 1,270 kilometers southeast of Tehran.

In the Gulf of Oman near the Strait of Hormuz in the Persian Gulf, the support warship finally sank.
