Iran’s largest ship sunk after major fire Abroad

The Kharg is a supply ship of the Iranian Navy. It is unclear how the fire started. Firefighters made frantic efforts to save the ship.

According to Iranian media, the ship was on a training mission in the Gulf of Oman.

This is not the first time that a ship has broken out in the Gulf of Oman. Since 2019, several reports have been made of “mysterious” explosions on ships in that area.

Iran and Saudi Arabia have in the past carried out covert attacks on enemy ships in the Strait of Ormus, which often resembled a ‘normal’ ship fire.
