The largest ship in the Iranian navy caught fire and sank in the Gulf of Oman. The incident took place near the port of Jaska during military exercises.
Before the ship sank, firefighters fought the flames for more than 20 hours, unable to locate the fire. The ship’s crew was successfully evacuated, none of the crew members were injured.
The sunken tanker was used for more than 40 years to support warships in the Iranian navy in various exercises and missions. The fate of the ship was conducted by Iran in waters with intense shipping, which is very important for global trade, and which has led to repeated conflicts in the region between Iran and the West.
